DANCE MOVEMENT THERAPY
Dance Movement Therapy is a form of therapy for your mental health. We are much more aware of verbal therapy, like counseling, but very few know about other modalities, like Dance Movement Therapy, that are equally effective forms of therapy.
Dance Movement Therapy is based on the connection between our mind and body: since our mind and body are connected, our mental state is reflected in the way our body feels and vice versa. Therefore when we bring a change in the way our body feels the same will reflect in our mental state.
For example: when we feel stressed, we commonly feel it in our shoulders or chest or head, or sometimes all of them together. Here if you had to manage the stress, you can focus on the sensations in these body parts and allow them to move the way they feel authentically at that point in time. As we move these body parts, we are accessing parts of our subconscious mind. This access will help us give insight into ourselves, it helps us heal and even further our healing process.
